Chandigarh : Three youths were arrested here Tuesday after a minor girl alleged that she had been gang-raped by them for six days.
“The victim was residing with her grandparents in Nehru Colony, a slum settlement in Sector 53 here for the last few months. She had gone on an outing to Panchkula town in Haryana with some boys of the same locality a week ago. On her return she has claimed that the boys had raped her,” investigating officer Baldev Kumar told IANS.
The victim, who is 16 years old, belongs to Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh and had come here to find a job, said Kumar.
She was taken by the police to a government hospital in Sector 16 for medical examination. The medical report confirming rape was awaited, the police said.
The arrested boys Nitin, 19, Sonu, 26, and Monu, 22, were also medically examined at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) here.
The victim’s uncle said she had been missing for the last one week.
