Interior Minister Zeyad Baroud, who conducted a field inspection of the campaign, told the press that the step was very important to achieve political stability in Lebanon.

The campaign came after a meeting between head of the Future Bloc MP Saad Al-Hariri and a delegation from Hezbollah last Wednesday. The meeting between Hariri and Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri also contributed to the agreement.

Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah said yesterday that the movement was ready to do things that would ensure the safety of Beirut.
