On July 7, 1965, Pratibha was married to Devisingh Ransingh Shekhawat whose ancestors once lived in Choti Losal, about 150 km from state capital Jaipur.

Devisingh's family had migrated to Amravati in Vidarbha, Maharashtra, more than a century ago.

"We have also been invited to visit the president's house after the swearing in ceremony of our dadisa (grand mother)," said Prem Kanwar, the village sarpanch.

She said Shekhawat called her Sunday and said in Marwari: "Gaon Ri Haveli Main Jashn Ho Rahyo Hai. O Jashn TV per dekhiyo, Thana Sagla ne Badhai" (Celebrations are taking place in village, I saw it on television. Congratulations to all of you).

Kanwar said plans are afoot to change the name of Choti Losal to Pratibha Ji Ki Choti Losal. "We would soon pass a resolution to this effect in the gram sabha meet," she added.
