The conference, titled “Terrorism: Alternative Global Perspectives”, aims to explore the wide-ranging effects of the US “global war on terror” in the context of a critical appraisal of the international system.

Muslim scholars, international experts and practitioners from around the globe are participating in the conference organized by the Center for the Study of Terrorism (CFSOT).

Among the distinguished guests are professor Robert Crane, former US national security advisor during the Nixon administration, Alan Hart, the author of “Zionism: the Real Enemy of the Jews”, Ahmad Ali Al-Iman, the advisor to Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir and Muhammad Habibur-Rahman, the president of the Islamic Forum of Europe.

CFSOT Chairman, Kamal El-Helbawy, told IRNA in London several keynote speeches will be made during the conference on different aspects of terrorism.

He said many challenges still exist on the way of the war on terror.

“We should try our best to remove misunderstandings created by the misrepresentation of Islam in the West,” he said, adding that one of the major objectives of his organization is to represent Islam the way it is.

“An impressive line-up of academics, experts and Muslim leaders have gathered here to endeavor to find new definitions and solutions for the problem of terrorism,” he added.

El-Helbawy noted that seven years after the 9/11 attacks, the international community is more exposed to terrorism than ever before.

According to him, CFSOT tries to “present an alternative point of view on terrorism, political violence and violent radicalization.
