Kolkata : Three event managers were stopped from boarding a flight here after a phone caller alleged they were terrorists who would blast the city airport. But now it turns out that behind the hoax was the peeved mother of a model who had been dropped from a ramp show, airport officials said Tuesday.
“Two calls – one from a landline and another from a mobile phone – came to the airport authorities Monday – saying Ananya Dutta, Sudipto Dutta and Prithviraj Ghosh, who were about to board an IndiGo flight to Agartala, were terrorists and may anytime blast the airport,” a senior airport official said Tuesday on conditions of anonymity.
“But later officials of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) confirmed that the trio were not terrorists but professionals of an event management company called Ananya Advertising and Co-ordination and were going to Agartala for a ramp show,” the official added.
The airport official said the trio identified the phone numbers as belonging to the mother of a 20-year old model, Suranjana Guha, who was dropped from the show.
“All three of them identified the phone numbers recorded on the caller-line identification apparatus as those of Papiya Guha, mother of Suranjana,” he said.
Sudipto alleged it was an act of vengeance since Suranjana was not allowed to participate in the show.
“We are sure that Suranjana’s mother did this out of vengeance – perhaps she wanted to cancel our show altogether. We really wanted Suranjana to walk the ramp for us and she was to board the same flight along with 17 other models, but she did not bring her identity card. We were already running short of time and had to drop her from the show,” Sudipto said before leaving for Agartala Tuesday morning.
When contacted, Suranjana refused to talk about the incident.
