New Delhi : The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday accused Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit of neglecting industrial growth of the capital during 10 years of her rule.
“Not a single new industrial growth area has been developed in Delhi by the Sheila Dikshit government,” Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan told reporters ahead of next month’s assembly polls here.
“Why did she neglect Delhi’s industrial development for 10 years causing a whole generation of engineers, technicians, scientists, accountants and other professional to leave the capital and got to other states for work?
“In some states north Indians are being persecuted. So what will the kids from Delhi do if they are forced to return,” he added, referring to the attacks on migrant workers in Maharashtra.
“Why has she (Dikshit) not developed more wholesale markets for foodgrains instead of stopping with only paper and plastic?” he said.
He also attacked the chief minister for electricity problems. “Commercial power, even when available, is too expensive. Because of this, people are shifting offices to neighbouring states resulting in no fresh investment in Delhi,” he stated.
“How many megawatts of power has she added to Delhi’s capacity in 10 years? What incentives can she give to investors to come to Delhi?” he questioned.
