Dhoni himself decided to take break and opted out of the Test series in Sri Lanka, raising many eyebrows.

“With so much of cricket being played today it is tough for the player to stay fit all the time. A time will come when more and more players would wisely decide to be choosy in order to avoid injuries,” said Dhoni, on the sidelines of the Twenty20 Champions League Awards night here Thursday.

Dhoni, who lead Chennai Super Kings in the inaugural Indian Premier League (IPL), refused to accept that the popularity of Test cricket was on a decline despite the low turn out at Mohali, where India defeated Australia by a record 320-run margin.

“I don’t agree. There is enough passion for the game and I don’t see Test cricket struggling to survive.”

The 27-year-old also added the verbal chit-chats going on between the two teams during the ongoing Test series are a part of game.

“It livens up the proceedings. Don’t read much into it,” he said.
