Gaza : Palestinian activists attacked an Israeli army tank squadron south of the Gaza Strip, stated an Israeli military source on Friday.
A spokesman for the Israeli army told the Israeli radio that the attack occurred at Kissufim crossing which divides Gaza from Israel.
This was the first Palestinian attack since the truce between Israeli and Gazans was signed under Egyptian sponsorship last June, he said, adding that anti-tank missiles had been used during the attack.
The area would be scanned for any landmines left by the attackers, stated the spokesman.
Meanwhile, Palestinian sources said that the Israeli army executed a semi-incursion into Palestinian farmlands at Kuzaha village on the edge of the Gaza Strip.
Eyewitnesses said that the Israeli army targeted citizens’ houses with their gunfire but no casualties were reported. Palestinian fighters retaliated with R.P.G rounds which hit an Israeli monitoring tower and a military Jeep. The attack resulted in the injury of an Israeli soldier.
