Bhopal : Bharatiya Jan Shakti (BJS) president Uma Bharti Wednesday slapped a senior worker of her party in full public view near a government circuit house in Chhindwara for what she later said was violation of the Election Commission directives.
Anil Rai, BJS district general secretary, was outside the circuit house to welcome Uma Bharti for a meeting.
As soon has he alighted from his car, he was taken aback when Uma Bharati standing there slapped him twice.
Uma Bharati told reporters that she had a right to “love or hit” her party workers. She said Rai had violated model code of conduct. But she refused to disclose how actually Rai was violating the conduct.
“I have asked all the party workers to remain away from the circuit house following Election Commission directives,” she said.
Uma Bharti later visited Rai’s house, hugged and kissed him, and apologised, according to party sources.
