Patna : Thousands of Hindu devotees Thursday bathed in the Ganga to mark a full moon festival.
The devotees, mostly from rural areas, thronged to different banks of the river in Patna and nearby areas, to take a dip on the occasion of the Kartik Purnima festival, the full moon day in the Hindu month of Kartik.
Hindus believe that taking a dip in the river on the occasion washes off all sins.
A district official said thousands poured into Patna since Wednesday to offer prayers and bathe in the river.
The government has made security arrangements to maintain peace and order during the festival, said the official.
People in Bhagalpur, Munger and other places also visited temples and offered prayers.
