London : England will be without key midfielder Steven Gerrard for Wednesday’s friendly with Germany in Berlin.
The Liverpool captain tore a leg muscle playing against Bolton Wanderers Saturday, and is expected to be out for seven to 10days.
“Steven picked up an injury against Bolton,” Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said in a statement.
“A scan this morning has confirmed a tear in the adductor magnus muscle in his right leg, and he is expected to be out between seven to 10 days,” he added.
The loss of Gerrard is another blow to England manager Fabio Capello, who is already without Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand, the two Manchester United players.
Captain John Terry is also doubtful with an injury, while David Beckham was not included as his loan spell with AC Milan does not begin until January.
