Uma Bharti ropes in Govindacharya for his expertise to brighten her party’s prospects

By Pervez Bari, Two Circles.net,

Bhopal: Ms Uma Bharti, the stormy petrel of India politics, meaning serious business for her political outfit Bharatiya Janashakti Party, (BJSP), to stand up and be counted has been successful in roping in her mentor Govindacharya, who is a RSS ideologue and former Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP), leader, to help her out in her endeavor.

Talking to newspersons here on Tuesday Ms Bharti announced that her BJSP will be the political wing of Rashtriya Swaibhiman Andolan, (RSA), a social organization with whom Govindacharya is closely associated with. She said that his expertise would be used to propel her BJSP a political force to reckon with.

Govindacharya will be her party’s “overall in-charge” after the assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh and other states to give it a new dimension, she declared. He will take major political decisions while Sanghpriya Gautam and she herself will be Working Presidents of the party and General Secretary Narendra Birthare would be coordinator for amalgamating the BJPS with RSA,”, she added.

Ms Bharti said she saw the emergence of a viable “third force” after the assembly polls as India is moving towards a new direction, she said.

Eulogizing Govindacharya, she said it was he who was responsible for the BJP’s “meteoric rise” from just two members in the Lok Sabha to the formation of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

Meanwhile, according to agencies report from New Delhi Govindacharya, before Ms Bharti’s interaction with media in Bhopal, announced his return to active politics and plans to launch a political front.

“It is time for the nationalist forces to pitch in. The two major conglomerates in Indian politics have become pro-rich, pro-minority and pro-foreign. I will announce the formation of a political front on the occasion of Makar Sakranti”, Govindacharya said in New Delhi.

”I may become her adviser but will continue to pursue work on academics, constructive and educational planks,” Govindacharya added.

The former BJP general secretary had severed ties with the party during the Vajpayee regime following his remarks calling Vajpayee a “mask” and Advani the “real face” of BJP.

Govindacharya, a patron of RSS Swadeshi movement, had restricted himself to academic activities since he left BJP.

Meanwhile, BJP leadership has sharply reacted to this political development, saying ”who else can become supremo in her party”.

BJP Secretary Prabhat Jha said it was upto Ms Bharti to select anybody as chief of her party. ”Who else can become the supremo in her party”, he asked.

Replying to a questioner Ms Bharti clarified that she had only said if terror suspect Ms Pragya Singh Thakur wanted to contest election then she (Ms Bharti) would pitch her against All India Congress Committee president Mrs. Sonia Gandhi, and that too when she is freed from jail.

Ms Bharti alleged that candidates of her party who are contesting elections are being bought over. She said that she has told her candidates to take money whosoever is offering them and the nuse it on their own election campaign. ([email protected])
