K.K. Shah, vice-chancellor of the Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University (HNGU), and Brian U. Adler, vice president for academic affairs at Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) signed the MoU at the Rang Bhavan hall at the HNGU campus, 130 km from Ahmedabad.

“Just imparting information is not education in real sense. It needs to be combined in an everlasting process that is noble and spiritually sublime,” Adler said quoting Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore while addressing the gathering.

“The MoU will open the door for HNGU student at GSW. Henceforth, students of this university will also be getting American visas in large numbers,” he said.

According to the MoU, the two universities envisage “exchange of undergraduates and/or graduate students, faculties, joint research activities and publications, participation in seminars and academic meetings, and exchange of academic materials and other information, and special short-term academic programmes.”

Shah said: “The MOU will go a long way in strengthening the friendly relations not just between the two universities but also between the two nations.”
