Jerusalem : Eight bodies found in the Jewishprayer and study center Chabad House in India’s Mumbai are likely to be Jews or Israelis, Israeli Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.
Three of the eight victims have been identified so far, said the foreign ministry, adding that the identification work of the other five are underway.
Earlier, the Chabad-Lubavitch movement which runs the center confirmed that Rabbi Gavriel Holtzberg and his wife Rivka were killed in the attack. They ran the movement’s local headquarters, which was one of the ten sites attacked.
On Thursday, Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni strongly condemned the terror attacks in Mumbai, saying “This is further painful evidence that the terrorist threat is the greatest challenge which Israel and the international community have to face.”
The attacks took place since Wednesday evening at ten places in Indian city of Mumbai, including hotels, hospitals and train stations, killing at least 195 people and injuring 295 others, according to Indian officials.
India’s longest terror nightmare ended earlier Saturday as commandos from the National Security Guard, the Indian Army and the Indian Navy eliminated three militants who had taken over the iconic Taj Mahal hotel.
