Qingdao (China) : Eleven people were killed and 10 injured in a fire that broke out in the early hours of Thursday in a seafood company in this Chinese coastal city.
The injured had been shifted to hospital and were stated to be out of danger, an official of the company said.
The fire occurred at 1.40 a.m. in a dormitory of the Qingdao Jiayuan Michael Food Co., in the Chengyang district.
“There were 84 bunk beds in the building but only 51 workers were inside when the fire broke out,” the official said.
The remaining workers moved to safety, he said.
An investigation into the cause of the fire has been initiated, the official said.
