Islamabad : UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon does not have a “specific response” to a letter from Pakistan’s UN Ambassador Abdullah Hussain Haroon on the Mumbai terror attacks as it did not call for any action from the world body, his spokesperson said.

“It is a general letter addressed to the secretary-general and to all member states,” Dawn Friday quoted spokesperson Michele Montas as saying while responding to a question at a briefing.

“No action was required in the letter,” she added.

Haroon, in his letter released last week, urged the international community to play its role in averting a conflict in South Asia.

It had suggested that US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice travel to the region to ease tensions in the subcontinent, a journey she has undertaken at the bidding of President George Bush.
