They were sworn in along with a 24-member cabinet here by Governor S.C. Jamir at a simple function in Raj Bhavan.

There are six new faces in the new cabinet including two women, one each from the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

At least two ministers of state in the previous government headed by Vilasrao Deshmukh have been promoted to the cabinet rank.

Chavan was elected the new leader of the Democratic Front Saturday after Deshmukh resigned. Bhujbal has been appointed in place of R.R. Patil who quit last week.

Deskhmukh and Patil stepped down taking moral responsibility in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks in Mumbai last month.
