Six die in Jharkhand road accident

Ranchi : Six people died and 11 others were injured when a jeep they were travelling in collided with a truck in the Palamau district of Jharkhand, a police official said Thursday.

A commander jeep carrying around 20 people collided with a coal laden truck near Satbarba police outpost of Palamau district, around 190 km from here Wednesday night.

“The jeep was over loaded as it was carrying around 20 people against the maximum capacity of 10. The driver lost control and hit a truck coming from the opposite direction,” the official added.

He said five people died on the spot while one person succumbed to injuries in hospital. Other 11 injured have been admitted to a local hospital in Palamau.

The driver and helper of the truck are absconding, police said.
