Dikshit reviews 2010 Commonwealth Games projects

New Delhi : Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit Monday reviewed the ongoing construction work of 2010 Commonwealth Games (CWG) projects in the city.

Dikshit visited three different CWG projects, the Thyagraj Stadium (TS), Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium (JNS) and Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS) to see the work in progress. Special Advisor CWG Ramesh Narayanswami accompanied her.

She enquired about the plan and status of various projects and instructed officials to ensure foolproof security measures.

The Congress leader was apprised of the various features of the Thyagraj Sports Complex, which is being re-developed after dismantling the old structure.

“It was reported that the construction is going on in full swing and is one month ahead of schedule,” said a government official.

Dikshit asked the officials of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to facelift neighbouring localities.

Dikshit visited the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium where upgradation, renovation and new construction work are in progress.

This complex would have a new administrative block, National Dope Testing Laboratory and Media Centre. The complex will be disabled-friendly and environment-friendly.

Dikshit also visited the Indira Gandhi Stadium where the present gymnastics stadium is being renovated and a new wrestling stadium and a cycling velodrome are coming up.
