Srinagar : Parties cutting across political affiliations in Kashmir have strongly condemned the brutal Israeli bombardment of Gaza and described the resultant killing of hundreds of Palestinians as the worst from of Israeli terrorism, calling upon the Muslim world and the OIC to launch a movement to free the Holy Land from unlawful occupation.
“The bloodthirsty rulers of Israel have set another reprehensible example in brutality by killing hundreds and wounding thousands in bombardment from warplanes on defenseless citizens in Gaza strip,” the spokesman of the Jama’at-e-Islami, Zahid Ali, said.
“By supporting the Israeli savagery, the anti-Muslim president of the US, George Bush, and the prime minister of Britain, Gordon Brown, have proved once again that their hidden hands are behind the anti-Muslim actions in the world, and that the entire earth was being stained with the blood of innocent and oppressed Muslims,” he said, adding that Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq were vivid examples of the bloodshed.
Expressing total solidarity with the Palestinians, the Jama’at has called upon the OIC and the entire Muslim world to stand up strongly against the brutal Israeli aggression, and launch an organized movement to free the Holy Land from Israeli occupation.
Senior Hurriyat leader and the patron of the Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen, Maulana Abbas Ansari, has said that the pitiless manner in which Muslim blood was being shed from Palestine to Kashmir demanded that people imbibe the character of Imam Hussain and display the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness at every front to defeat the designs of anti-Muslim forces.
The Khawateen Markaz chief, Yasmeen Raja too has condemned the Israeli air raids on Gaza which have taken over 300 lives so far, and called upon the Muslim nations, the OIC, and the Muslim World League to discharge their Islamic and moral duties by taking serious note of Muslim issues, particularly the bloodletting in Palestine, Kashmir, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Meanwhile anti-Israeli demonstrations rocked the frontier Kargil district of Kashmir. Responding to the call for protests by spiritual leader Ayatollah Syed Ali Khamenei thousands of people in this district which lies close to Chinese border took to streets and denounced the Israeli aggression.
