New Delhi: The BJP put Congress party in big trouble on Saturday when it asked the party to apologize the Muslims for its remark on India’s one of great seats of learning.
Talking to this correspondent from Faizabad, the party general secretary, Rajya Sabha MP Vinay Katiyar said that he had said nothing against the Deoband as it appeared in a section of media. He said that I just asked the so-called secular party to clarify its stand over the administrative reforms committee report which, according to him, “blacklisted” Darul Uloom Deoband. If the remark is true the Congress must apologise for it.
Vinay Katiyar said there was no question of demanding ban on Islamic seminary and said, “We are proud that we have Deoband like Islamic centre in UP, which gives religious direction to the rest of the world.”
He alleged that on page 27 and 28 of the second administrative reforms report submitted by senior Congress leader Virappa Moily, has blacklisted the Darul Uloom and accused the seminary of having contacts with terrorists and Pakistani leaders involved in anti-India activities.”
Now the Centre is left with only two options: If the report is correct it must take action or ban the institution and if wrong, Congress should immediately apologize to the Muslims. No reaction has yet come from Congress party over the issue. Meanwhile, Deoband chief rector Maulana Marghuburrahman has demanded that the Centre make the report public.
