New Delhi: Vivek Mehrotra, an IAS officer of Haryana 1974 batch has been made Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs. He was working as Secretary in Department of Disinvestment in the Ministry of Finance.
He is going to replace M. N. Prasad, who last week was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office.
As a Secretary he will work directly under the Minority Affairs Minister AR Antulay.
58 years old Mr. Mehrotra is originally from Uttar Pradesh. He is on central deputation since May 2003. He did his bachelors in English Literature, Political Science, and History and post-graduation in Political Science and Economics.
During his service in Haryana, Vivek Mehrotra served in Education, Rural Development, Finance, State Electricity Board among others. He was on assignment to African Development Bank in 1989-91.
In Delhi he had worked in Finance and Home ministries.
