Ahmedabad : Narayana Hrudayalaya, one of the largest heart hospital chains in the country, signed an agreement with the Gujarat government to set up a 5,000-bed health city here, a statement issued here said Monday.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Narayana Hrudayalaya and the Gujarat government, the health city will come up on a 37-acre area in Monogram Mills in Bapunagar, Ahmedabad.
Under the agreement, Narayana Hrudayalaya Health City plans to invest Rs.4.8 billion and will begin operations with a 1,000-bed heart hospital.
This will be followed by cancer, kidney, neurosurgery and women & child welfare hospitals of 1,000-beds each in subsequent phases.
The facility would also include a nursing college and paramedical training centres to raise skilled manpower for this mega project.
“Solutions are not solutions until they are affordable. This health city will bring us a step closer to our vision of making world-class healthcare services and cutting-edge medical technologies available at affordable costs to the common man,” Devi Shetty, chairman Narayana Hrudayalaya, said in a statement.
“The project would also generate direct employment for 2,000 people and indirect employment for 5,000 more people in the state,” Shetty said.
