New Delhi : In an attempt to safeguard interests of 10,000 shopkeepers of the capital, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) Tuesday announced that 44 additional pedestrian, commercial and mixed use streets will be protected from sealing.
“Benefiting 10,000 shopkeepers and bringing them outside the purview of sealing, MCD has identified 44 additional pedestrian shopping streets, commercial streets and mixed use streets under mixed use regulations,” Vijender Gupta, the chairman of MCD’s standing committee, said.
These streets are situated in eight of MCD’s 12 zones.
“Following extensive surveys, 11 mixed use and two commercial streets in Najafgarh zone; three commercial and two mixed use streets in the central zone; five mixed use streets, two pedestrian shopping streets and one commercial street in west zone; three mixed use and one commercial street in Rohini zone; two pedestrian shopping street in Shahdara north zone; two mixed use streets and two pedestrian shopping streets in Shahdara south zone and three mixed use streets and two pedestrian shopping streets in south zone have been identified,” Gupta said.
The MCD will also sanction building plans for residential, mixed use and commercial purpose on 2,183 and 355 notified streets under two separate notifications.
“Building plans of residential premises can be sanctioned without paying conversion charges – under the mixed use, commercial use is permissible on the ground floor,” Gupta added.
