Over 100 diplomats attend Iran revolution celebration

By IANS,

Tehran : More than 100 foreign ambassadors and representatives have attended a celebration to mark 30 years of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, the official IRNA news agency reported Tuesday.

Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki lauded the diplomats for participating in the celebration Monday with President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the report said.

“You have all known about Fajr – ten day celebrations – during your years of stay here,” Mottaki said.

“Fajr means dawn, or the outbreak of light amid darkness.

“The Iranian were living under a despotic regime in darkness, so they chose Fajr to continue their new way of life,” he continued.

The diplomats felicitated Ahmadinejad.

Iran is observing a ten-day celebration that began last Saturday to mark the 30th anniversary of the country’s Islamic revolution led by religious leader Ayatollah Khomeini.
