Two Supreme Court employees in police custody for graft

New Delhi : Three people including two Supreme Court employees were Tuesday sent to a day’s police custody after their arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for taking a bribe of Rs.25,000 from a non-resident Indian.

“C. Perumal and Badrinathan, Supreme court employees, along with broker K.M. Singh were arrested Monday evening for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.25,000 from an NRI,” a CBI official said.

“The accused had demanded Rs.75,000 from the NRI, Dr. Sahu, for listing his appeal in the apex court against a high court order on an urgent basis. Rs.25,000 were being paid as the first instalment,” the officer added.

“A city court sent all of them to one-day police custody,” the officer said.
