After thundershowers, Delhi wakes up to a warm day

By IANS,

New Delhi : Delhiites woke up to a warm Wednesday after a chilly wet night. The meteorological department says it does not expect more rain right now.

“The sudden thundershowers were because of a cyclonic circulation over Rajasthan and western disturbances over Jammu and Kashmir. Although the skies will remain cloudy through most part of the day, the weather will come back to normal,” an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) told IANS.

The amount of rainfall recorded until early Wednesday was 4.7 mm. Although the night was cold and wet, Wednesday morning saw the temperatures rise.

“It’s quite natural to feel warm on a cloudy day. That’s because clouds trap the heat. The minimum temperature recorded early today was 11.5 degrees Celsius – a degree above average,” the official added.
