Europol to start cooperation negotiations with India

Brussels : European Union Interior Ministers meeting in Brussels Thursday adopted a decision to add India to the list of countries with which the director of Europol is authorised to start negotiations on cooperation agreements.

“There are operational interests that require that India be added to the list of third states,” noted the ministers in a statement.

Based at the Hague, The Netherlands, Europol aims at improving the effectiveness and co-operation of the competent authorities in the EU Member States in preventing and combating terrorism, unlawful drug trafficking and other serious forms of international organised crime .
