Islamabad : Pakistani Taliban have shot dead 14 security personnel a day after they were kidnapped in a tribal region near the Afghan border.
Taliban militants kidnapped them on Saturday after exchange of fire in Mohmand Agency, assistant administrative officer Rasool Khan said.
Locals found bullet-ridden bodies of the security men were found at mountainous areas of Omar Banda and Ayesha Kuroona on Sunday, Khan said.
He said the security forces collected the bodies.
The security forces Sunday launched major operation against the suspects, witnesses said. Security forces blocked all roads in the area and started search to catch the militants.
Mohmand agency is located near the restive Bajaur tribal region and security officials say that militants have arrived in Mohmand agency after the army expelled them Bajaur.
Security officials say that militants move between Bajuar and Mohmand areas.
In January Security forces had a major offensive against the militants in Mohmand agency and had claimed killing of around 60 militants.
Omar Khalid, a Taliban commander is leading the militants in Mohmand Agency.
Local media had reported in January that Khalid was killed in fighting with security forces but spokesman for Taliban, Ikramullah Mohmand had denied the reports.
