Masked anarchists Wednesday smashed their way into a Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) branch in Central London amid “high levels of violence” throughout the day, police said.

There were at least 87 arrests, and four people were charged. Police also arrested 11 people for masquerading in police uniform.

Commander Simon O’Brien of the Metropolitan Police warned that there may be more clashes between officers and demonstrators as their focus now moves to the summit venue at the ExCel Centre in east London.

Police have thrown a ring of steel’ with massive metal barricades around the venue in a bid to secure the gathered world leaders.

Protests are also expected at the London Stock Exchange.

Meanwhile, a man died at the scene of a protest after being found unconscious by a member of the public Wednesday evening.

Police said officers came under attack while they tried to help the man, who was pronounced dead at hospital.
