United Nations : The UN Security Council will hold an emergency session Sunday afternoon to discuss the North Korean rocket launch, authorities said.
The UN Spokesperson’s Office said that the meet of the 15-nation council will begin at 1900 GMT.
North Korea launched a rocket at 11:30 a.m. local time (0230 GMT) Sunday. The launch has been confirmed by the governments of Japan, South Korea and the US.
Japan requested an emergency Security Council session after North Korea launched the rocket from its east coast, a United Nations spokesman said.
