Sikh riot victims’ lawyer complains of threat

By IANS,

New Delhi : H.S. Phoolka, the lawyer representing victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, Thursday said he was threatened by supporters of Congress leader Jagdish Tytler, an accused in one of the riot cases.

The supporters had gathered outside a court in east Delhi where a case in which Tytler is an accused came up.

“I was manhandled and threatened by Jagdish Tytler’s supporters who were present in the uniform of lawyers as well as other supporters in the court premises. They told me ‘we will see you’,” Phoolka told reporters outside the court premises.

After the court postponed the verdict, Phoolka came out to talk to mediapersons but had to rush inside the court premises as he was allegedly “manhandled”.

He sought protection from police who escorted him out.
