Islamabad, Aug 19 (Xinhua) Four paramilitary soldiers were killed and three injured in separate attacks on several checkpoints in Pakistan’s restive northern Waziristan, media reports said Sunday.
Two soldiers were killed and two injured Saturday when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into the Tharkhobi check post, 30 km east of Miramshah, a major town in the region, the Dawn newspaper reported.
Two Frontier Constabulary soldiers were killed in around two-hour-long exchange of fire with suspected pro-Taliban militants at two check posts in Isha and Kamar areas, some 10 km from Miramshah, said the report.
One paramilitary soldier was injured when security personnel came under attack at the Gora Qabristan checkpoint, near the Miramshah bazaar Friday night, added the report.
Militants also fired 20 rockets at the Bonda check post Saturday morning and security forces fired mortar shells from the Miramshah fort to counter the attack. No loss of life was reported in the attack.
Violence in Pakistan’s northwestern frontier areas escalated since July and a series of bombing attacks against security forces have caused over 300 deaths.
