Lucknow : The Ram temple was very much an issue this election and the party’s Hindutva’s agenda was intact, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP leader Vinay Katiyar said Thursday.
“The Ram temple is an issue in this election but presently we will not disclose our strategy on how we are going to solve it,” Katiyar told reporters in Faizabad, 180 km from this Uttar Pradesh capital, about the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
Katiyar, who is the BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate from the Ambedkar Nagar Lok Sabha seat, said it would be a mistake for his party to opt for a post-poll alliance with Uttar Pradesh’s ruling Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
“We will not need the BSP after the elections. However, if the BJP forges any post-poll alliance with the BSP it would be a mistake on part of the BJP.”
Katiyar said supporting Mayawati three times to become the chief minister was “a blunder by the BJP”.
