Chandigarh : Users of solar water heaters in Haryana will get a rebate in their electricity bills, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda announced Monday in a step to popularise the use of such systems and conserve electricity.
Power distribution agencies in Haryana will provide rebate on domestic electricity bills at the rate of Rs.100, 200 and 300 per month to the users of solar water heaters of capacity of 100 litres per day (LPD), 200 LPD and 300 LPD respectively.
The rebate, applicable for three years, will be given from the date of installation of the solar water heating system.
The consumer will have to notify his power distribution agency of the installation of solar water heating system to get the rebate.
The state government has already made it mandatory for all industries, hospitals and nursing homes, hotels or motels, function halls, jail barracks, canteens, group housing societies, educational institutions, tourist complexes and residential houses of more than 500-square yards in housing colonies, to install solar water heaters.
In order to further conserve power, Hooda announced that conventional bulbs and tube lights will be replaced with compact fluorescent lamps (CFL) in all government buildings across the state by Jan 1 next year.
