Principal says no for Urdu section even after appointment of Urdu teachers

By RINA,

Aligarh: After a continuous battle for many years, last year the Education Directorate of Delhi government has approved the appointment of 28 Urdu teachers. These were not given regular appointment but were recruited on contract basis. However, even though Urdu is getting no better treatment. The reason is that most of the principals of the schools are nursing a grudge against Urdu.

Recently, one of the women has appointed as an Urdu teacher and was posted at Sarvodya Vidyala two months ago, was till now neither given an Urdu class nor a separate Urdu section was established. The number of Muslim students in the school is 80-85 who are desirous of studying Urdu. The parents of the most of the students had met several times the principal Sunita Kumari to demand the opening of Urdu section but of no avail. Rather the Urdu teachers are being used as steeping teacher i.e. whenever a teacher is on leave he is being sent to his/her class.
