Ranchi : Residents of state capital Ranchi heaved a sigh of relief Sunday after the city had a rainfall, which brought down the mercury level, the weatherman said.
The city witnessed rainfall Sunday afternoon bring down the temperature, which had soared to 43 degrees Celsius Saturday.
The residents of Ranchi have been facing a tough time for last ten days as the temperature hovered above the 42 degrees Celsius mark.
According to the Met department, the rainfall was caused by a depression formed over Ranchi and other parts of the state. The easterly winds coupled with cloudy weather have given much relief to the residents of the city.
“It seems that god has listened to us. After rainfall, the climate is pleasant. In Ranchi, the rain was imminent when mercury crossed 35 to 37 degrees Celsius,” said Sailen Sen, a resident of Ranchi.
Heat wave condition is sweeping Jharkhand and the mercury has soared up to 48 degrees Celsius in Ramgarh district. Taking the sweltering heat into account the Jharkhand Educational Tribunal (JET) has directed all schools to start summer vacations from May 4.
