Haryana seeks international airport in Jhajjar district

Chandigarh : The Haryana government Tuesday urged the central government to sanction an international airport in Jhajjar district, adjoining Gurgaon, to cater to the future needs of air travel from New Delhi.

The plea was made by the state’s Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda, while addressing the 30th meeting of National Capital Region (NCR) Planning Board at New Delhi Tuesday.

Hooda said that the new airport could be set up in an area around Bahadurgarh town in Jhajjar district.

Hooda said that in spite of the present development of the Indira Gandhi international airport, it would fall short of future air travel requirements from the national capital.

He said that the new airport at Bahadurgarh could have excellent connectivity to New Delhi through the Kundli-Manesar-Palwal expressway being built in Haryana.
