Bhubaneswar : Muralidhar Chandrakant Bhandare was sworn in as Governor of Orissa Tuesday at a simple ceremony here.
He was administered the oath of office by Orissa High Court Chief Justice Ashok Kumar Ganguly at the Raj Bhavan.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, members of his council of ministers and speaker of the state legislative assembly Maheswar Mohanty were present.
Bhandare is known for his legal expertise. He was elected to the Rajya Sabha for the first time in 1980.
“Orissa is not new for me. I have been coming here since the past 45 years. Orissa is a culturally rich state and I am proud of it,” he told reporters.
