New Delhi : A core group of railway board officials, has been appointed to monitor public private partnership (PPP) for developing 22 world-class railway stations all over the country.
The railway ministry plans “to develop the New Delhi Railway station after similar stations in the developed western European nations, through public-private partnership to showcase it for the Commonwealth Games, 2010,” said a railway ministry announcement Wednesday.
The other railway stations to be developed after the successful completion of the New Delhi station include Agra, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Anand Vihar, Bangalore, Bhopal, Bhubhaneshwar, Bijwasan, Chandigarh, Chennai, Mumbai CST, Howrah, Jaipur, Lucknow, Mathura, Patna, Pune, Secundrabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Varanasi and Gaya.
The core group of railway board officials consists of the member, engineering; additional member, commercial; adviser, infrastructure and adviser, finance. The adviser, land and amenities will be the convener of this committee.
This group will monitor and coordinate with other related railway departments to ensure time bound completion of the projects, a prerequisite for all PPP projects, the railway note said.
