Islamabad : Six people were killed and 12 injured in a bloody shootout between two groups at a peace jirga (assembly) in Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province.
According to the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP), the incident occurred Wednesday in the remote and mountainous village of Zargari in Hangu district.
The shootout, which lasted for about half an hour, erupted when one gangster, Gul Muheed, got infuriated and started shooting at jirga members trying to settle a dispute between two groups, APP reported.
Muheed, his three sons, and two members of the peace committee were killed.
The injured were whisked to a local hospital and some were listed as in critical condition.
