Chennai : The DMK-Congress-VCK alliance won 27 of the 39 parliamentary seats in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry’s sole Lok Sabha seat, Election Commission officials announced Saturday.
The AIADMK-led front comprising the Communist Party of India (CPI), the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) and the MDMK bagged 12 seats.
The final tally: DMK 18, Congress 8 (including Puducherry), VCK 2, AIADMK 9, (CPI) 1, (CPI-M) 1 and MDMK 1.
The PMK, part of the AIADMK-led alliance, lost all the 7 seats it contested.
The National Democratic Alliance comprising Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its three regional allies, actor-turned-politician Vijaykant’s DMDK and the Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) that contested all the 40 seats separately, drew a blank.
