New Delhi : Rajesh Kumar Manjhi, Member of Parliament from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has been suspended from the Lok Sabha for 30 sittings after helping a woman avail medical facilities meant for his wife.
In its report tabled in the Lok Sabha Thursday, a 11-member parliamentary committee headed by veteran Congress leader V. Kishore Chandra S. Deo, set up to inquire into the misconduct of members of the house, suggested that the MP be reprimanded as well.
Manjhi has also been barred from taking his spouse or companion on official tours till the conclusion of the 14th Lok Sabha.
The Committee was set up after Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee received a complaint Dec 15 last year from the MP’s wife, Pramila Kumari Manjhi, alleging the misuse of the railway pass issued in her name as her husband took another woman who with him on official tours.
Pramila alleged that her husband was also using the medical facilities meant for spouses of MPs for the other woman.
