Washington : The United States has again refrained from commenting on the uproar in India over their civil nuclear deal, but reiterated that New Delhi and Washington are both committed to see it through.
“This is a situation where the Indian government is working within their system. We are in discussions with Congress and will continue those,” state department acting spokesman Gonzalo Gallegos said Thursday.
“Both parties, both the Indian government and our government, are very committed to seeing this through. We’re going to be working towards that goal,” he said declining to comment on “internal Indian matters”.
“But that’s a discussion that they’re having, that the government is serious about holding and continuing working towards the fruition of this agreement, and we share the same commitment with them,” Gallegos said.
Asked if Washington planned to send diplomats abroad to meet with the Indians or if they are planning to come here, he said, “I don’t have any information on the next meetings on that.”
