New Delhi : External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna Monday said that India was in touch with Australia over protests by Indian students alleging racist attacks and expressed the hope that their problems will get “sorted out”.
Krishna said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had spoken to his Australian counterpart Kevin Rudd and he himself had a telephonic talk with Australian Foreign Minister Stephen Smith.
“Our mission (in Australia) is in touch with the students from India and also the government of Australia. So I hope that things will be sorted out,” Krishna told reporters here.
The minister’s comments followed massive protests by Indian students in Melbourne Sunday and Rudd’s pledge to bring to justice those who attacked Indians studying in Australia.
