Patna: Pervez Alam , a RJD leader and the husband of Afzal Nisha, the ward councilor of Digha, Patna was shot dead and his brother Afroz Alam was seriously injured when a group of criminal opened firing at them in broad daylight here yesterday following a prolonged dispute over a piece of land in Fairfield Colony under Digha police station, Patna.
The incident took place when Parvez Alam with his two brothers Afroz Alam and Firoz Alam were busy in overseeing unloading of sand on the disputed land in Fairfield Colony. A group of armed men led by Gandhi Rai and his son Mukesh Rai reached there and tried to stop the work. When Alam brothers did not stop the work, the miscreants shot at Parvez and Afroz while Firoz succeeded to run away and informed the people.
Later people of the area rushed both Parvez and Afroz to the Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH) but Parvez died before reaching the Hospital and Afroz Alam is in critical condition.
As soon as news of firing on two brothers spread, supporters of Parvez came out in the streets and blocked the roads for several hours demanding arrest of the killers.
Police claimed to make efforts for arresting Gandhi Rai and his son, but none of them has been arrested so far which sent a wave of anger among supporters of the Parvez Alam.
