Mumbai : A key index of the Indian equities markets closed almost flat Tuesday after staging a late recovery to shut shop about 50 points below its previous close.
The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened at 14,147.87 points, ended trade at 14,276.46 points (provisional) – 49.76 points or 0.35 percent lower than Monday’s close.
Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended the day 0.19 percent down at 4,227.2 points.
There wasn’t much change among broader market indices either, with the BSE midcap index ending 0.03 percent up, while the BSE smallcap index slipped a bit, closing 0.19 percent down.
