The chief judicial magistrate’s direction came after the nun’s father C.Thomas alleged that the video tapes produced before the court had been edited raising suspicion of manipulation.

CBI counsel sought a month to locate the master tape. But the court turned down the request.

The Forensic Science Laboratory, Bangalore, had conducted the narco test last year on Father Jose Putarika, a former Malayalam professor at the Kottayam college where Abhaya studied, Father Thomas M. Kottor, a Diocesan chancellor of the Catholic Church at Kottayam, and Sister Seffi, a resident of the Saint Pius Convent, where Abhaya was found dead 17 years back.

The three were arrested last year for their alleged involvement in the murder but were given bail Jan 1 this year.

Sister Abhaya, a resident of Pius X Convent, was found dead in the convent well March 27, 1992.

The CBI has alleged that Sister Seffi had hit Sister Abhaya thrice with an axe in the room next to the kitchen of the convent and later pushed her in an unconscious state into a well.
