Delhi buses continue to kill, maim

New Delhi : A teenager was killed and three people were injured in two separate accidents involving city buses in New Delhi.

A speeding Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) bus mowed down 15-year-old Ramit in Mukherjee Nagar in northwest Delhi and critically injured his friend Vijay, 16.

The accident took place in the forenoon, when the bike Ramit was driving was hit by the bus. The bus driver ran away after the accident.

The Mukherjee Nagar police registered a case against the absconding driver for causing death by rash and negligent driving and launched a hunt for him.

In another incident, a 35-year-old man and his teenager niece were critically injured by a speeding Blueline bus on the Tughlaq Road in central Delhi.

The bus plying between the New Delhi Railway Station and Tara Apartment in Kalkaji hit a motorcycle barely a few hundred metres from the Tughlaq Road police station and critically injured Arpita, 16, and her uncle, who was driving the bike.

Bus driver Balram was arrested for endangering life by his rash and negligent act.
