Dhoni-R.P. Singh century stand rescues India in 2nd One-dayer

Kingston (Jamaica) : Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s workman-like 95 and defiant 101-run ninth-wicket stand with Rudra Pratap Singh pulled India out of a precarious position and carried them to a respectable 188 in the second one-day international against the West Indies here at the Sabina Park Sunday.

India looked in danger of being bowled out for less than hundred runs when they lost eight wickets for 82 runs in the 22nd over before Dhoni (95, 135 balls, six fours and two sixes) and R. P. Singh 23 (75b, 1×4, 1×6) bailed them out. The only other batsman to get into double figures was Yuvraj Singh who made 35 (33b, 5×4, 1×6).

Pace man Ravi Rampaul returned with his best figures in ODIs, claiming four wickets for 37 euns, while Jerome Taylor and Dwayne Bravo three each.
